Lionel Messi Sets New Record for Consecutive World Cup Goals

 

Another day, another record broken by Lionel Messi.

The Argentina icon scored a goal in the 80th minute of the World Cup Group J finale against Jordan on Saturday, June 27. He netted the ball off a free kick and put his team up 3-1.

He started the game on the bench with Argentina already punching its ticket to the round of 32.

This is the seventh consecutive World Cup match that Messi has scored a goal in, which is a World Cup record.

Previously in this summer's tournament, Messi passed Marta to become the all-time leading scorer in all World Cups. He now has 19 goals and it's not even the knockout rounds yet.
